ORP Podhalanin was initially a German, and then a Polish torpedo boat from World War I and the interwar period. The keel was laid under the vessel in 1916, and the launch took place on December 21, 1917. The total length of the ship was 60.4 meters and a width of 6.4 meters. Full displacement reached approx. 380 tons, and maximum speed - approx. 27.28 knots. The armament - at the time of launching - consisted of two 88 mm guns, two 450 mm torpedo tubes and a 30 min.
ORP Podhalanin was initially called A.80 and was a German A 56 torpedo boat built at the Vulcan-Werke shipyard in Szczecin. During World War I, the unit did not take part in the fighting and acted as a training ship. After the conflict ended, it was de facto taken over by the British and anchored at the base in Rosyth. In 1919, it was granted to Poland, but due to the financial problems of our country, the renovation and retooling of the unit was prolonged, and as a result, as ORP Podhalanin, it entered service in the Polish Navy only in 1924. In 1938, the ship was transferred to the reserve, but returned to the line again just before the outbreak of the September campaign. ORP Podhalanin was sunk as a result of the German air attack on September 29, 1939.
