Mikromir 35-021 Japan Type 93 torpedo

Torpedo wz. 93 (jap. 93-shiki gyorai ) was a Japanese torpedo from the Second World War. The first prototypes of this torpedo were built at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s, and the torpedo entered service in the Japanese Navy in 1933. In the basic version, the length of the torpedo was 900 cm with a diameter of 610 mm. The curb weight was 2700 kg, and the weight of the warhead was up to 490 kg. The maximum speed did not exceed 50-52 knots, and the effective range for such a speed was as much as 20,000 meters!

Torpedo wz. 93, commonly known as the Long Lance, was developed by two officers of the Japanese navy: the vice admiral Kaneji Kishimoto and Captain Toshihide Asakuma. Research and development works continued in the years 1928-1933. Ultimately, however, the largest, fastest and most effective torpedo in World War II was created. This weapon became the main torpedo armament of Japanese destroyers and cruisers during the Pacific War, contributing significantly to the many successes of the Japanese fleet in 1941-1942. Work was also carried out on a modernized version of the torpedo (wz.93 model 2) with increased maximum speed, but it did not enter serial production. However, in 1943, the wz.93 model 3 torpedo was put into production with a reduced range, but a larger warhead.
