The BMW R 1200 C is a German cruiser motorcycle that was presented to the public for the first time in 1997. Its production was carried out in 1997-2004. The motorcycle was powered by a single, two-cylinder boxer engine with a capacity of 61 HP. In total, about 40,200 copies of this vehicle were produced.
The BMW R 1200 C was designed by BMW's lead designer David Robb. The main goal of creating this model was to expand BMW's share in the cruiser motorcycle segment. The market launch of this model was preceded by a lively marketing campaign, which culminated in the "appearance" of the R 1200 C in one of the James Bond films. During series production, several different versions of the R 1200 C were created. One of them was the Aventgarde model, which had fewer chrome elements than the basic version and a slightly changed styling. Another version was the R 1200 Independent (or Phoenix), which had only a driver's seat as standard, new aluminum wheels or two-color paintwork. In 2000, the R850C model was introduced to the market, with an engine of a smaller capacity.
